Completed recently some more high-end product shots and photography for an engineering company here in Merseyside. As before the items were technically challenging to photograph as they were reflective metal and much larger than the previous shiny product photography job with the same client. Stainless steel is notoriously difficult to photograph successfully - it reflects everything around it, including the photographer.
Rather than valves, this time it was air pressure units, which blast air or cleaning liquids through the valves to maintain lab conditions of cleanliness. These were nearly 2 metres tall, so again it took quite a lot of preparation before the shoot to build a white tent around the item, with enough room for a model to step inside to demonstrate. I used a combination of white paper backgrounds and a series of white sheets to create a reflection free structure and then shot through a small hole in the material. As before I needed a large difused light source via a umbrella rig and second directional light to illuminate correctly without causing undue reflections.
Of course, if you are planning a shoot with similar products, give me a call and I can arrange a free, no obligation quote and advice and hopefully we can work together.

"I have employed David for conferences, presentations, social engagements, marketing materials, open days, portrait shots, official document signings amongst many others. David has always been amenable to our sometimes short notice and has delivered our photos in a quick time frame as agreed and sometimes much quicker depending on our needs. He has always been very helpful, he follows and delivers on the brief and is able to give additional value to jobs with minimal briefs. I am more than happy to recommend David and he will no doubt deliver the same quality he provides us."
